How to Survive Med School Tip #13: Prepare For Some Gory Things To Happen

And then there's this.

Upon entering med school, you'll likely (definitely) do some of those stuff you see on thriller films like Saw, The Chainsaw Massacre, Hostel, etc. Except, you're the psycho killer and the victim is a cold, hard, preserved corpse rather a live, moving one. So if you're one of the faint-hearted, better be ready for this.

Prepare to do some cutting, slicing, dissecting, peeling, breaking, marinating, sauteing, crunching, munching, sweating and a whole lot of grimacing. You'll get to do this in your Anatomy lab.

How to be a Master Slicer:

You'll need:
- pair of gloves
- face mask
- laboratory gown
- dissecting set
- teamwork
- tibay ng sikmura
- brain (this is important)

1. First, uncover the body
2. Focus on the area to be studied (e.g. upper limbs)
3. Open your Anatomy Manual
4. Follow isntructions on the manual (sometimes we don't even bother to do this. *wag tularan*)
5. Start by making an incision on the skin. Not too deep so you don't cut the muscles underneath.
6. Be careful not to cut the important nerves and blood vessels. It is important that you identify them, their collateral branches and which muscle they innervate.
7. Remember to cut the muscles on its belly (middle part) and only after you have identified them.
8. After working on it, give it a nice formaldehyde bath so it would last long enough for you to learn everything there is to learn.

WARNING: During this period, there will be professors making "ronda" in the laboratory (yes, just like the MMDA hiding behind a bush near the stoplight waiting for their next victim). So unless you and your groupmates want to get some fun-loving "boljak", be sure to read ahead before every topic is discussed in the lecture. Cause there'll surely be some question and answer portion (Again, just like being pulled over by the MMDA).

Of course, being a medical student isn't just about books, exams, nerdiness, and everything in between. One must also think that that day will come when those diseases you read on books will actually be experienced by a patient. That the patients you will meet won't just be people with diseases but people who have real lives. And that the cadaver lying on your lab table was once a part of a family, a son/daughter and a friend just like you do.

At times, I would randomly think: "I wish I had known this guy (our cadaver). What was he like when he was still alive? Did he had kids? A job? What kind? No one knows but at least we all know he's going to be a huge help to our future patients. Hell, he's one of the most important person in our med school life. Now isn't that superb?

How to Survive Med School Tip #15: Learn a Different Language

Yes, those words above are in English. This is a slide presentation taken from Biochemistry class, one of the major subjects in the College of Medicine curriculum.

If you're planning to enter med school, be sure to choose a pre-med course that has a medical background / subjects such as chemistry, biology, anatomy or in other cases take some science program of the course beforehand. Or else, be ready to bleed out (more like, hemorrhage) when you start your med school.

I never did get along with Chemistry when I was in my BS Nursing, all the more with Biochemistry right now. So how do I cope? Simple. Milk some guy who knows more about the subject and let him teach you. OF COURSE I'M JOKING! (Never do this, they might find out) :D

In med, you cannot thrive if you're lazy. Lazy reading, lazy studying, lazy eating and yes even lazy partying (You read that right, partying). You really have to read your books and allot time on studying. Another factor is a sharp mind and memory. This is your armor for battle. It isn't necessary to memorize everything, what's important is that you get to know the how-why-when-what mechanism of the subject being discussed, and of course not forget about it.

How to Survive Med School Tip #28: Know How to Reward Yourself

Starbucks. One word comes in mind - coffee, a med student's daily dietary supplement wouldn't be complete without this. But besides having coffee, coffee shops can be a relaxing place to unwind for some of us (I meant for myself). Although I don't really drink coffee on a regular basis and maybe that's why I never finish reading a darn chapter in Anatomy, I go here when I need to reward myself after a hard day's "work", to take a moment and reflect on action potentials, carbohydrate metabolisms, hamstring muscles and of course, to relax :)

And what other way to pamper myself but to order their sweet waffle topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup - Chocolate Belgian Waffles ^_^

Being someone who nearly has their life cycle broken down to an eat-study-read-sleep process (wait I forgot, there is no sleep, again, eat-study-read-read process) allows you to appreciate the simpler things in life - in my case, a piece of sweet bread and the company of a friend.

After more than a month of going to med school, you begin to finally realize that riding a public jeepney was more fun than driving/taking a cab, that eating street foods and having a laugh with friends is better than a 15-minute lunch in a resto and that sleep is way priceless than any other high profiled party or event you're invited to.

The Sofa Set Project

As promised, here are the newly taken pictures of my the sofa set we had custom made.

Since we have a small spaced living area, we finally decided to give up the search for L-shaped sofas in malls and opted to have it purposely done to fit our cute love nest.
We chose mahogany for the accent woodwork color to match the interiors of the house and thought a sandy color for the upholstery would make the room appear brighter and more spacious. Plus, it adds to that "zen-ish" theme we were aiming for.

We also had the center table and the "TV stand" made (as many would call it, although the flat screen tv would be mounted on the wall). All woodworks were in mahogany.

Apart from that, both the curtains and sunscreen were also from Adriane Victoria Interiors.
The fabric for the curtains was originally imported from Belgium if I'm not mistaken (or something in Europe otherwise). Ms. Dolly and Mr. Peter (the company owners) we're kind enough to include our small dining window and had it "clothed" in the package too.

Overall, we had the following done:

L-shaped sofa
Center table
TV stand
Curtains (living/dining area)*

The whole package was worth 30k.

NOTE: Colors may appear darker than the actual shade of the furniture.

Pretty good digits for such pieces done with skillful craftsmanship. Will surely have the other furnitures done as well. Can't wait to fully furnish this cozy little place.

Thank God Its a Holiday

Enough about skin care and salon / spa reviews. Tonight, I'm gonna blog about my things-to-do list. OK, I'm joking.

This day, I told myself I am going to spend at least 5-6 hours reading about The Cell from my Histology class. It's not really an advance reading, more like what-was-the-professor-talking-about kind of reading. I managed to finish half of Chapter 2 and that's because I started in that chapter.

Apart from this day's major assignment, the new sofa set got delivered this afternoon. It was a custom made L-shaped mahogany couch with a sandy upholstery (picture to follow). We had it done along with the center table, TV stand and curtains (I promise, I'm gonna do a separate post on this one).

So it's 10.15PM on my clock, and instead of skimming for tomorrow's Cell and Transport for my Physiology class (God help me), I am here blogging and watching Julie/Julia movie on HBO. It's a movie about cooking, blogging and being your own person. You guys should watch it. If I come to think of it, it might actually be the reason why I even blogged today.

Freshmeat Orientation

When you get into a new place, you tend to adapt/adjust and try to "blend" in with your environment. Moreover going to a new school, with new people, new curriculum (note: hardcore curriculum) and doing it with lesser sleep and more fatty build up.

Yes you read that right. F-A-T. As in thicker, richer and fluffier adipose tissues :)

Going into med school requires and sets you to change and accept a new kind of lifestyle. That is, weekdays would mean studying at least 3-4 hours a day (in your own time) and weekends would be spent preparing for the weekdays. Although, note that Fridays should be allotted for rest / chill / past time / party (if you still have the energy for it).

Disclaimer:
Statements shown above are just mere opinions I came up with in these early weeks of my freshman year. It may or may not change by the time I reach the 2nd year or thankfully graduate.

Yet it is very important that you chip in some time to exercise, go malling with friends, watch movies or just have something to do that has nothing in relation with medicine or studying. Because good guys need a break.

And in order to survive in this tough med world, you have to learn how to fight hard despite all the gruesome wars. Fight = study. War = exams. Of course studying and actually learning, wouldn't be a bit easier if you don't have efficient resources and facilities.

This was taken at the Nursing Auditorium of UERM @ Physiology Orientation.

They had it built by the same contractor who did MOA's iMax theater. This room caters 400 students of our batch, is fully air conditioned, sound proof, and has chairs with built in arm tables cascading upwards for better visualization of the lecturer's presentation.

Vain Jane goes to Med School

Lately I've been busy working on my time management skills in preparation for the coming school year. And what's the best way to prepare for it? PRACTICE. And so, I had to get my things ready for school from books to pens, bags to shoes.

Sometime in mid - end of May, we dropped by C&E Bookshop for a quick run down of the school books on my list. I got all 12 medical books that's worth a hyping P27,000. It wouldn't probably be the best way I would have spent 26 grand, but I think it was worth it in the long run.

Haven't covered 'em up with plastic yet. Doing it a couple a day :)
It makes the whole med school idea sink in in a subtle-friendly-petiks way. I also try not to stare at my bookshelves. Just couldn't imagine reading 2-inch thick books plus 2-3 others in just one sitting.

Hopefully, I could once and for all arrange my "study room/business lounge/pantry area" here and get a feel that it is finally happening. A calling or should I say, a dreaded calling worth taking the risk.

A New Take on Blogging

I have finally decided to put this blog into good use. (I mean sure, it has good uses before) I'll be changing the way how it looks (in the future) and more importantly the things I blog about. It will be better.

This 2011 has been a waiting vessel ready to explore new lands as I might say; Opportunities I longingly planned to catch, new things to enjoy, company of new friends I eagerly wanna have, the 4-month business ideas I can finally put into action and of course, there's this med thing. Speaking of, I still have an approximately 3 weeks of "me-time" (and by me-time i meant: business stuff, advance med books reading and rearranging my new room). So I guess, there isn't any "me-time" after all.

I just hope everything turns out the way I planned it to be. There's just so much work to be done and yet so little time. And to help me with this, I'm thinking of adding a new member to my family :)

MY VERDICT:

Coverage: 4.5 out of 5
The stuff is really creamy and a bit thick when first applied. What I do is I just put on a pea size amount enough to cover and moisturize my face after toning and leave it on for a few minutes just to let it settle and slightly be absorbed by the skin so it won't be that heavy and cakey when I put on some setting powder.
And since I'm an oily freak, this is a very important step that I should do.

Shade: 5 out of 5
For the shade, it comes in a pearly white tint which I love since it seems to brighten up my complexion. I would recommend this for the fair ones either having pinkish or yellowish tones. For the darker shades of the Filipinas, I think this would be okay too just adjust the shade of your setting powder and foundation if you still need to apply just so it's easier to blend it in with your natural color.

Staying Power: 4 out of 5
I have hospital shifts for 12 hours and I think it does keep up its good job. Although I really don't go out that much or expose myself to the sun (as the photo-phobic that I am), I think it protects me from the artificial lights sources such as the OR lights especially if we have to handle a case for 3-4 hours. (It's like artificial sunbathing!)
It lasts for about 10-12 hours I think and apart from its sole purpose, it also doubles as a make-up primer, moisturizer and skin treatment regimen in one. It even fades out my pimples marks and uneven skin tone.

On Cam: 5 out of 5
This gives out a slightly white cast on cam so don't overdo it or you'll end up looking like crinkles or worst, Bozo the clown.

Will I continue using this?
Absolutely. In fact this is my second purchase already. My first Armada was an SPF 60 too but in a bigger size.

Is it worth the price?
A bit pricey. Knowing it's an original from the Philippines, I think the company should give us some kinda patriot's privilege. ^_^
I got my first Armada in 85 mL for about P1670 and after a year, I purchased the 30 mL which is P950.

MY VERDICT:

Its actually very good! I'm really happy I included this to my morning regimen. It doesnt only helps me have great skin it also keeps me from being too lazy to get out of bed. (haha!)
I would just be excited every morning to wake up and have the thought of drinking this.
The taste is kinda of milky with a tang but very bearable I suppose.
Its not what others say that it has some kind of a fishy after taste. In fact, I really got addicted to the taste that sometimes, I just take small amounts in between directly from the scoop! (Talk about guilty pleasures)

I'm taking this for almost a month now and it as early as 3 week, I began noticing its effects. My face isn't that oily anymore thinking that 3 weeks ago, I was a human oil mine. I also started noticing a slightly plumper behind (blush) and I'm sure its from the collagen powder since I've been watching what I eat.

Will I continue using this?
Hell yeah! ^_^ I'm planning to keep this in my regimen for years I hope. Oh and I also wanna try the Premium. I'll be posting another review of that very soon.

Is it worth the price?
Around $36-37 wont hurt. Its definitely worth it.

Going Gaga Over Organic

Its a craze everyone has been raving about. Who knew that organic stuff like well, fruits can also be very good when applied to the skin? How cool is that? At first, I started off by searching organic products in the market. However, after a month of toiling about them, I realized how can I be sure that its really organic and none of its content is chemically processed? Like the scent and most likely the effect that it claims on the label.

And so as catty-curious as I am, I went off to buy me some fresh oats, some honey and milk. Well, you get the picture. I won't be listing all the ingredients here of course ^_^

The first trial was a gooey substance I swear I wouldn't put on my face even if my life depended on it. It was a fail. Although, it really smelled good and sweet.
So I made another one, and this time was better than what I did before. It now looked more like a soap :D

The Body Shop: 02 Eye & Cheek Palette + Day & Night Vitamin E Cream

After renewing my TBS Love Your Body Point Card, I decided to buy my very first eyeshadow (and cheek) palette since it was on a special sale that time. Yay me! ^_^ By the way it cost me Php 100 for the renewal and it will be valid for just a year.

I got the palette for about Php 975 instead of the regular price of Php 1200 or something (LOL, sorry I can't really remember how much it was exactly). Plus, a small sized jar of their Day & Night Vitamin E Cream as a freebie.

I'm not really a big eyeshadow fan. I'd rather stick to basic one-shaded earth tone everytime I go out. But just for a change, I wanna explore colors more so I thought of starting to buy a wider range of colors.

First off, The Body Shop's No. 02 Eye & Cheek Palette.

It has this felt fabric casing with a mirror on the cover flap and the palette and an applicator in the opposite side with a magnetic lock. I honestly think the felt cover can make it a little hard to clean up after usage.

I chose the earth toned shades (as always) which I think looks flattering on my tone since I'm a bit yellowish fair and it's pretty easy to blend and achieve that big eyes look.

The palette consists of the following:

1. Cheek Blush
2. Caramel Shimmer
3. Pink Shimmer
4. Plum Shimmer
5. Chocolate Shimmer

Yup, you guessed it. I'm a huge fan of shimmers! Haha :) It makes me feel like a goddess! ^_^

The applicator that came with it has two sides:

1. For creasing
2. For blending

The Vitamin E cream that they gave me for free was of good use too. I use it every other night as my moisturizer (it can also be a good base for make-up). I don't really use the Day cream because I tend to get oily during mid sunlight so my mom ends up using it.

Love their packaging by the way.

My Verdict:

I never got the chance to use the palette yet but I do strongly advice to use an eye primer just to make sure it stays on for a longer period of time as all shimmery shades can wear off faster than solid / neutrals.

The cheek blush also did a good job (pertaining to the shade). It gives that subtle blush tone without making it look too made-up. As for the staying power, I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. It definitely stays on longer than Mary Kay's does.

The casing (once again) is a felt one so it can give you a hard time to clean. Maybe a damp cloth will do the trick.

Will I buy this product again?

Sure, if there were other palettes to choose from. Unfortunately, there were only 2 kinds of this and the 01 shades were too dark for me (more on the lavender - dark gray) so I'd rather not.

There are a lot things right now that I would want to blog about until I saw the brown paper bag lying in the corner of my room which I had after going shopping a few weeks back. It got quite a number of goodies in it including a soap I bought from a very interesting store, The Soap Factory. So, I decided to blog about it.

Yep, the shop was really unusual. At first, I thought they we're selling fudge cakes and colorful pastries of some sort. I didn't really notice the sign at the front of the store since I was busily focused on those bright, yummy-looking thingies on the counter.

It's then that I realized that they sell desserts nor pastries. They sell soaps! Yes, soaps that's made to look like tasty treats. Cool Idea.

They sell not just bar soaps but other body and bath products too like body butter and scrubs in a jar, facial toners and caviars, shampoo and colognes.

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to take a picture of their other items but I did buy their Geisha Whitening and Anti-Aging Soap (since I'm a fan of whitening products myself).

I'm using it for about 2 and a half weeks now and I must say that it does makes my skin supple after every bath. I follow -up this product with lotion or body butter. Although it tends to dry the skin a bit (as a normal whitening soap does), it got rid of the small bumps I had on my back.

So, will I buy another bar? Hell yeah!
I do wanna try out the body polish and scrubs too! Looks promising ^_^

I was on the search for the right make-up brush. The one that's handy, has soft bristles, non-shedder, high quality and of course low on the budget. (Pretty demanding, isn't it?) In short, I was on the look for the 'perfect' make-up brush.

Local brands just don't fit my criteria :(

I just got back from the hospital :) My 2-week hiatus was cut short since I couldn't stop myself from blogging! (LOL) I figured I could keep myself occupied blogging while recovering from my operation last Monday. (Now that's time management!)

Hello :) To all my readers (not that I have so many LOL), I will be taking a 2-week hiatus. Just got a bad news from my doctor yesterday so I'd be having a surgery this coming week. :(

Darn, I really hate surgical operations or anything involving opening me up and creating a scar afterwards (they don't call me Vain Jane for nothin). Plus, the things they expose during prepping for the surgery! (I should know, I'm a nurse!) I never did see myself on the OR table.

I have long been waiting for this! Paramore is coming to Manila!!! (At least its what the poster ad says)

Having seen this in a photo from which I was tagged by a college friend in Facebook, was like feeling the rush of blood in my brain. I was in a complete state of trance..

Alas! The untouchable soles of the American rock band (whom I earlier thought were Canadians until I Googled them up) will soon kiss the Philippine land.. (Ok, I'm gonna stop being melodramatic now)

But really, I am way too excited for this event that I couldn't think of anything to blog about. I can still hear their upbeat lyrics resounding clearly in my head. We used to sing their songs way back in college when I still had the time to hang out with my band friends. (er, bandmates?)

So first I did was to text Jhe, who was by the way a knock out fan of the band (from what I've heard) to relay him the good news. Then came the crowd.. Hmm.. who shall I bring? (I can't think of anyone that deserving yet as of now. haha!)

This is it. Right now, money isn't a biggie anymore. C'mon, this only happens like once in a life of a vain blogger! (LOL) And if you'd ask me, I'd definitely be in the Gold ticket lane. ^_^

Transforming Into Angelina?

I first saw her in Confessions of A Teenage Drama Queen (2004) movie starring then good girl rising star Lindsay Lohan. I think she perfectly fits her role as the antagonist in the movie and even find her exotic looking and pretty back then.

But after her recent movie, Transformers (2007) and seeing her in award shows, red carpet events and interviews, there was no doubt she's changed a lot. Not just changed but I kind of notice her style had something very, very similar to a well-known talented Hollywood actress who is soooo not her.

These were pictures taken just a few years before the release of Transformers.

Prominent freckles
Blonde hair
Tanned skin
Thin lined lips
A small bump on the nose that was believed that she went under surgery to get it fixed (along with the lips to make it look plumper)
And did anyone noticed the weird fashion?

Way different than how she looks like NOW.

However, this transformation didn't quite end yet. And as a huge Angelina Jolie fan, I'm fairly irritated by the burlesque style Megan has been seen doing on the red carpet. Here are some of what I'm talking about.

*Okay so, it was of different color. But the slit and the shoes?? (puhleeez)

*Stop it Megan, you look scary!

And I wonder how did Jennifer's Body come up with the idea?

I am sincerely disgusted by the way she's been acting; stepping up into someone else's shoe that is way too talented as Angelina.

If you're gonna be echoing big time at least have some decency of adding a bit of YOU in the assumed persona (in her case, Angelina Jolie wanna-be), not just blabbering about 'how strong women should be' speech and exposing that inked freckled skin.

And you're wondering why a lot of girls hate you?? For the record, it's not only girls who hate you. It's the entire population of people intelligent enough to spot a struggling star who'll do everything for the price of fame.

High heels are NOT just for evening wear. They work just as well with trousers, jeans, denim skirts, mini skirts, pajamas. You need to be adventurous.

Any aspiring Imelda Marcos needs to consider multiple locations and situations in order to ensure maximum and successful heel-wearing pleasure.

1. The weather. Suede, satins and pale colours are OUT if there is the slightest hint of rain. No rain protector is worth the risk of losing a key shoe.

2. Short arse. If you're escort is shorter than you in your highest heels dump him immediately. Pointless. A pair of Manolos lasts a lifetime, and you shouldn't compromise style for love.

I just got back from SM North EDSA Mall with my good gay friend, Marky (LOL) after we went shopping for God knows what. I didn't actually brought a list of my 'Things To Buy' maybe that's why I ended up splurging on not-so-important things :(

This will be my 2nd pay check (yay!). And right now, I just spent more than Php 5000 on cosmetics alone!

5 Things I Love About Koreans ^_^

"I don't care - e - e - e - e - er, boy I don't care"

That was a line from a growing popular hit, I Don't Care by the Korean girl group called 2ne1.
Besides from the catchy tunes, unique fashion and a member from the Philippines (Sandara Park), there's more to this group which allures Filipinos' attention.

We, Filipinos are naturally born responsive to other country's culture may it be Western, European or even Asian like ourselves. But apart from all the other races that I know, I would have to say that I envy Koreans the most. They have this playful, cute image more of a cartoony character. ^_^

To sum it all up, Here's a list of things I admire in everything Korean.

* 2ne1 invasion.

1. Their uber unique fashion sense. (I'm sure this would definitely make Lady Gaga jealous enough) Who could get away with a long sleeved blouse, a mini fluffy skirt with matching bright colored leotards and a pair of booties? It may make you think twice of going out to the mall and be the center of everyone, but unlike Koreans they seem to make it look natural.

2. Their painstaking beauty rituals. (Actually, I should really have a separate post for this coz it's too detailed!) Their beauty regimen mainly consists of a 5-step process:

Massage & mask

Tone

3. Their impeccable smooth, radiant skin. Gotta be super duper envious of this one. As we all know, Filipinos rave that rosy white glow. In their case, its really a no-effort beauty fetish having been blessed with the right genes, type of diet and proper skin care routine.

4. Their oh-so adorable facial features. Oh, those small chinky eyes! I love how it's curved slightly upwards the end of the lids. Although not all Koreans have this nice big chinky eyes, others opt to have plastic surgeries (but that's another post). I still find the little coin hole shaped eyes cute enough.

5. Their one of a kind spicy delicacies. I really love sushi (Korean sushi, that is). I started making 3 years ago way back college. Its this roll of rice, dried seaweeds, mangoes and sometimes tuna sliced in a way that it looks like a bite size pizza of colors. Though I haven't tried kimchi yet. Its this hot and spicy red thing (haha!). I would sure want to have a taste of that.

I'm gonna get a new phone this Friday! wuhoo! :D

Finally, after I received my check, will go out with my cousin for a dose of weekly shopping.Included in my list is this phone. I know its a bit out dated since it was released way back some time, but it's really a good buy for a phone considering the features.

This one is a super dupe of the Blackberry but with a little added flavor. Well for one, it's sleeker, it has this super chic design and the color is to die for! :) Plus, it can surf the web, send texts and calls of course and did I mention its super chic design?

It would be perfect for someone who's lifestyle includes a lot of cam whoring (haha!), web browsing, and someone who wants to keep up a well managed business online.

I'll be buying the one in grey steel. Can't wait!! I'm super excited.

Skin Food Aloe BB Cream

I have read many good reviews regarding this product. And as many of us are, I 'm also on the oilier side of the planet. So, I decided to check this out for myself.

It says on threads that this is a very good BB cream especially for oily types. So, after double cleansing, I applied it on my face having a mild coverage as a make-up base. I personally think that the shade I got wasn't the correct tome for me since my skin appeared to be darker after a while since it has oxidized.

I should have gone with No. 1 (lighter shade) since it tends to become darker over time, it'll be blending with my color. I don't think this matches my skin type because it gets oily after 4-5 hours on my face even if I set it up with loose powder and a pact.

I'm thinking of buying the Mushroom BB cream in shade 1 after this. For now, have to put up with it..

I give it a 3.5 out of 5 for its oil control and 4 out of 5 for its smooth finish.

Skin Food Milk Shake Point Make-up Remover

I bought my first milk shake point along with my white grape fresh light pact sometime last March 2009. It wasn't really what I expected it to be. It feels really light when applied using cotton and it practically removes make-up in an instant no matter how thick your foundie is.

I think since it has milk in it, it doesn't only removes make-up but it makes my skin smooth as well. After using it, my face feels soft. It also leaves an oil based film on the face but after a while, it dissolves and gets absorbed by the skin.

I love this make-up remover and I'm planning to buy a while year stock of it! haha!

I give it a 5 out of 5 :)

Skin Food fresh Juice C Serum (Whitening Care)

I remember buying this instead of my 2nd White Grape Fresh Pact since they don't have a stock w/ my shade which is NB23.

Here's the review:

Coverage: I found it slightly sticky after applying. After a while, it dries on the face and settles a transparent film.
Effect: I noticed my pimple marks lightened after 4-5 consecutive nights of application.
Scent: Lemony citrus

Over All: 3 out of 5

Not bad for a whitening serum. I just hope it gives a more refreshed look and whitening effect after long consecutive days of application (which I haven't done since I get lazy sometimes).
Works well for spot whitening like pimple marks, blemishes, etc.

Skin Food White Grape Fresh Light Pact

This was my first buy from Skin Food :) I really need a pact that time when my Mom and I came across a SF Boutique at the mall.

It is really pricey for a compact powder (like Php 1,400+) so I was really skeptical back then. But after 2 months of use, I super loved its effect! :)

Here's the review:

Coverage: It is really sheer when applied. It's very light and doesn't look made up. What I like about this pact is that it doesn't have a white cast on camera (especially w/ a flash)
Effect: It leaves a matte finish on the face. A perfect canvass for colors (blush, highlight, eye shadow, etc.)
Shades: Its a bit limited coz it only has 3 shades I think. And with the shade that I bought which is NB23, it's still light for the typical complexion of a Filipina.
Scent: Lemony citrus.

Over All: 4.5 out of 5

It's a good buy for a pact. Money is definitely worth it :) This is perfect for everyday use. Very light and sheer.
